Want A Bit Of American History? You Can't Go Past The Rhode Island Red!
A rich red/brown colour. A superb looking bird with some black in the wings and tail feathers. They are smart, endearing, very trusting and social and people orientated. You will love their interest in people and their inquisitiveness!
This breed originated in America (from a place called Rhode Island, go figure!) and is the source of most commercial cross breeds used today. It is chosen because of its egg production ability and its resilience as such a strong breed. At Barter & Sons we keep the Rhode Island true to its breed. A pure bred in every sense and another original purebred from our hatchery start up in 1933.
